H.E. Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Sultan Al Qasimi, the UAE Minister for the Economy, today agreed to take on a key role to drive trade and economic cooperation between the Arab world and the world’s fastest growing emerging economies.
At a meeting with Khalid Al Malik, Moutamarat’s Chief Executive Officer and Tatweer’s Senior Vice President for Industry and Knowledge, at the Ministry for the Economy’s office in Dubai, HE Sheikha Lubna confirmed she would act as patron for a series of CEO summits with Brazil, Russia, India, China (BRIC countries).
The agreement will see Sheikha Lubna take a prominent role in the first Summit, the forthcoming India-Arab World CEO Summit to be held in Dubai on December 7 immediately following the Arab Strategy Forum. It will be attended by H.E. Mr. Kamal Nath, Minister for Commerce and Industry of India, who will head a high powered visiting delegation.
The India-Arab World CEO Summit is a joint venture between Moutamarat and the Confederation of Indian Industry and is reserved to invited CEOs.
Sheikha Lubna said: “This is a tremendous initiative aimed at the private sector. I am very pleased to be involved and to contribute to furthering ties with our most important trading partners for the future.”
Khalid Al Malik said: “Sheikha Lubna’s endorsement ensures this initiative is carried through to the highest level. The CEO Summit offers a different type of interaction and we expect to see substantive actions emerge, rather than words.
“It will bring together decision makers and allow them to cooperate and form strategic partnerships that will have a positive impact for the business leaders of the Arab world.”
