Electro-Flow Controls (EFC), an Aberdeen-based leading designer and manufacturer of Instrumentation, Monitoring and Control Systems for the global oil and gas industry, has secured a contract worth over £600,000 [approx. $900,000] with Helix Well Ops (UK).
The provider of life-of-field services and development solutions has contracted EFC to design and supply riser handling and additional storage solutions for the company’s ‘Well Enhancer’ vessel.
Bob Will, EFC managing director said: “EFC offered its conceptual design service, this tailored a solution to meet Helix’s standards exactly, without the need to compromise on system functionality.
“The result is supply of an additional deck structure which provides additional deck and storage space, whilst incorporating a boom rest and maintenance access for the vessel’s main 100Te deck crane. The design includes vertical storage and articulated riser handling arm.”
EFC’s customised approach delivers flexible design and integrated packages, providing client project teams with the abilty to meet tight schedules, a critical factor in major rig upgrades and newbuilds.
Steve Nairn, Helix Well Ops regional vice president said: “With several new contract wins of our own, our vessel is in high demand and we require an extremely fast turnaround on these upgrades. We have every confidence that EFC will be able to deliver on this and value the company’s flexible approach to the project.
“The new kit will ensure the safe and efficient deployment and recovery of equipment that is critical to the Well Enhancer’s Coil Tubing Operations.”
The contract will be delivered by EFC Mechanical Handling Solutions, a recent addition to EFC following the company’s £10million management buy-in led by Mr Will, which saw him combine the complementary business Celeris and it’s mechanical handling with EFC’s advanced controls and instrumentation systems, to form EFC Group as it will now be known.
Mr Will continues: “EFC is in a programme of rapid growth, with our mechanical handling capabilities being fundamental, giving huge growth potential and significant job creation for the industry in the coming year.”
Headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland EFC Group has had a design and manufacturing base in Houston for 14 years. International representation has increased to include Singapore, Abu Dhabi UAE, Macae Brazil and India, making the group well placed to serve its global client network.
EFC Group is exhibiting at the forthcoming International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) well-control conference in Aberdeen on April 13-14.
