Just when one thought that all festivities and indulgence ended with the dawn of the New Year on January 01st, Sri Lankan Holidays rekindles the holiday spirit with two super sizzling packages to Bangkok and Singapore.

Who can resist the temptation of taking off to Bangkok with return airfare with all taxes, 02 nights / 03 days hotel accommodation and return airport taxes at Rs. 39,999.00 ?. And the same deal to Singapore at Rs. 54,999.00 ?

With these two super destinations at hard-to-resist prices as these, January is no longer the dull and legendary “bottle month” it used to be. Operative from 15 January to 28 February 2009, these special packages afford you and your loved ones the unique opportunity of indulging all that both destinations have to offer.

Bangkok's Chinatown comes alive on 26 Jan with celebration for the Chinese New Year where dragon and lion dances by more than 300 performers from six countries, as well as Chinese opera and cuisine, firecrackers, parades, floral decorations, Chinese lanterns and more take top billing.

There is also the Bangkok Fringe Festival, a performing arts festival featuring Thai and international choreographers, and theater and dance companies.
In late January is the River of Kings Festival, a sound and light extravaganza where a river, 15 fountains, more than 700 actors and two live elephants are used in this portrayal of the cultural, military and philosophical achievements of Thailand's monarchs.
Don’t also forget the Dhamma Theatre Company’s presentation of short plays, performances, lectures and workshops based on Buddhist teachings every Sunday at the Patravadi Theatre, Arun Amarin Road.

Taking top billing in entertainment in Singapore is the US$2 million production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic fairy tale musical “Cinderella”. This adaptation of the fairy tale was originally performed for television in 1957, in which legendary songstress Julie Andrews was the first to play the poor girl whose foot is a perfect match for the magic slipper.

From 01 – 08 February is the Huayi, Chinese Festival of Arts.  This is a 12-day festival welcomes the Chinese New Year with outdoor cultural events and carnivals, including an 88-member lion dance and electronic, rock, punk and pop concerts by Chinese bands.

Chinatown comes alive in February with traditional decorations and lights in celebration of the new lunar year. A bazaar opens each evening for shopping and feasting while thousands gather for a street party and countdown to the New Year, capped by midnight fireworks. Floats, marching bands, more than 4000 performers, lion and dragon dances are highlights of one of the grandest multicultural street parades – The Chingay Parade of Dreams - celebrating the Chinese New Year, where a preview takes place the night before along the Orchard Road route.
The biennial Chinese Cultural Festival kicks off in mid February, presenting around 220 events showcasing Chinese culture, opera, music, dance, martial arts, poetry, calligraphy, photography and art exhibits, tea ceremonies, pottery, cultural seminars and more spread across numerous venues.
Also in mid-February is the Singapore River Hong Bao. This Marina Promenade is home to a fabulous riverside carnival celebrating the Chinese New Year. Elders give children hongbaos—red envelopes containing money. Other festivities include an elaborate fireworks show, Chinese arts and crafts, food, carnival rides, orchestra concerts, puppet shows and other cultural demonstrations.
