Skywards, the frequent flyer programme of Emirates and SriLankan Airlines, is celebrating its fifth birthday by offering its members the chance to win five times the number of miles they have flown!

Five lucky members who fly five sectors between 1st June and 31st December 2005, will have the chance to win five times the number of miles they have flown during that period.

In just five years, Skywards has attracted over 1.5 million members from across the world who earn one Skywards Mile for every mile they fly on Emirates and SriLankan Airlines which they can exchange for free flights, upgrades, hotel stays, holidays and luxury goods.

Brian LaBelle, Skywards’ Vice President said: “Skywards has grown tremendously over the past five years, doubling its membership almost every year to reach some 1.5 million today.

“Integral to Skywards’ success is our members who have supported the programme and encouraged us to continually improve our services.  Members can also enjoy the benefits of our partner airlines, hotels and other companies.  Our fifth birthday celebration offer is an acknowledgement of their support.”

Skywards’ partner airlines include: Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Japan Airlines, South African Airways and United Airlines.  Partner Hotels include: Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Jumeirah International, Le Meridien, One&Only, Marriott, Rotana Hotels, Suites & Resorts, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts and Sheraton Hotels & Resorts.

Partner banks include: Citibank (UAE & Bahrain), Emirates Bank, ABK Bank (Kuwait), Standard Chartered (Qatar and Sri Lanka); for shopping: Rivoli, Damas, Zam Gems, Dialog GSM (Sri Lanka); and for travel: Emirates Holidays, SriLankan Holidays, Emirates Tours UK, Danat Dubai Cruises; car rental: Budget Rent a Car, Hertz, Sixt.

With three tiers of membership – Blue, Silver and Gold - members can enjoy more privileges the higher their membership tier.  Tier miles are accumulated whenever they fly with Emirates and SriLankan.

In April, Skywards took top honours in New York at InsideFlyer magazine’s 17th Annual Freddie Awards, the ‘Oscars’ of customer loyalty programmes.
Skywards received “Freddies” for “Best Member Communications” and “Best Web Site” in the Asia Pacific region, plus the coveted title of “Programme of the Year” which honours performance across the full spectrum of services provided by a frequent flyer programme.  Skywards has been winning awards every year since inception five short years ago, and currently has 13 awards to its credit.

In July 2004, Skywards celebrated its millionth Skywards member by donating one million Miles each to the charities CARE, UNICEF and Beit Al Khair.  Members also contributed an additional 12.5 million Miles.

But before the year’s end, members again gave their support when disaster struck the shores of Asia during the December Tsunami, answering Skywards’ appeal for relief support with an outstanding donation of another 12 million Miles.
