At least seven people were killed on Sunday when a minibus hit a landmine in Somalia’s southern Middle Shabelle region, according to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
The incident occurred at the village of Baniga Baalow, about 15 kilometers from the district of Bal’ad in the Middle Shabelle region.
The minibus was traveling between Afgoye and Bal’ad, a witness Fadumo Mohamed said over the phone.
Bal'ad is located about 36 kilometers northeast of the capital city of Mogadishu.
Last week Somalia faced its deadliest explosion yet when a suicide truck went off in Mogadishu, killing 356 and injuring 228 more, according to Reuters.
