Sony Ericsson launches the S600, J210, K 608 and Z520 mobile phones, the GC99 PC Card and a range of Bluetooth™ and car handsfree accessories

The new Sony Ericsson S600 J210 and Z520 mobile phones, launched today, will undoubtedly appeal to a variety of audiences. Each phone is packed with features to enhance the lifestyles of those looking for a unique, affordable and convenient mobile device or accessories.

“At Sony Ericsson we have done our best to create phones that satisfy each and every persons need and requirement,” says Husni Al-Assi, General Manager, Sony Ericsson Middle East and Africa.  “In regard to the S600 we have gone all out to provide excellent communication including Internet browsing, great music with stereo speakers, sensational widescreen gaming, quality still imaging and video capturing and loads of personalization options. The phone will appeal to young adults with busy social lives and a desire to express themselves in multiple ways. (Service is network dependent).

Designed for every day use, the J210 makes life easier by mixing practical ergonomics with a simple, intuitive interface.  The slim design incorporates a large keypad with joystick for easy navigation, and a bright 65K colour screen.  Using the phone in a variety of situations is made effortless as speech clarity is provided and a dedicated ringtone speaker delivers clear sound for incoming calls.  And, although the J210 is designed with voice communication in mind, it is easy for users to supplement calls with SMS text and MMS picture messaging.

The new clam shall designed Z520 fits into any fashion scheme, not to mention this Bluetooth™-enabled device is a fully featured phone that works all over the world. It is available in a wide choice of colour schemes based on white and silver frames, and additional Style-Up™ covers in a multitude of patterns allow for ultimate personalization, making the Z520 fit for any occasion.

The Z520 is designed to support a busy social or working life, the external screen displays the caller’s picture if it is associated with their number. The VGA camera can take pictures or video clips with the phone open or closed. The camera lens is on the same side as the external screen, which acts as a reference viewfinder, so you can easily frame shots of yourself or with friends. When the phone is open, the 1.8 inch TFT display shows the full resolution pictures. Images can be linked to contacts, shared around locally using infrared or Bluetooth™, or sent to friends as an MMS message.

The K608 has sleek good looks and an aluminium feel and is easy to use and navigate around.  Sony Ericsson’s latest intuitive dual front camera/phone design makes the handset vertical when it's a phone, and horizontal when it’s a camera, and the fully featured 1.3 MegaPixel camera includes an active lens cover for swift activation and extra protection.  For consumers getting used to the gripping idea of video telephony, handling video calls is done in just a few clicks with the use of the direct video telephony button.  The world of applications the phone delivers, from exciting mobile content to video calling and personal creativity, are always crisp and clear with the large – 1.8 inch – 262,000 colour TFT screen

Sony Ericsson has also launched a range of Handsfree devices for use in a diversity of environments. The all-new Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-610 promises that making calls in noisier environments will now be as painless as possible thanks to the superior audio quality delivered by the HBH-610.  It combines the latest version Bluetooth™ 2.0 with automatic volume adjustment, digital echo cancellation and noise reduction to ensure a stable connection and outstanding sound quality.

The Bluetooth™ Car Handsfree HCB-700 is the latest Sony Ericsson Car Handsfree headset; which has specifically been designed for safety, enabling the driver to manage calls without diverting their attention from the traffic. The brand new Voice Digit Dialling adds to conventional voice dialling and calls the number automatically when the user says the digits out loud.

To further provide customers with the fastest possible access to the internet and e-mail, Sony Ericsson has launched the GC99 PC Card which keeps you online by combining 3G broadband with WI-Fi. The GC99 PC Card offers connectivity on UMTS networks at up to 384 kbps and works anywhere you can use a mobile phone.  Alternatively, people can take advantage of the 54 Mbps data rate of Wi-Fi (WLAN) networks in offices or at public hot-spots to browse the Internet at full speed, download large attachments such as PowerPoint presentations, images and video, and access streaming material.  Wi-Fi hot-spots often offer connectivity in airports, coffee shops and other public places.

These announced products will be available throughout the Middle East and North Africa during Q3 and Q4, 2005.
