Al-Bawaba has learnt from sources close to the Syrian Presidential Palace and from reliable contacts in London, that the report about the untimely death of the Syrian heir Hafez, is “baseless”.

On Wednesday, it was reported by a Syrian newspaper Akhbar El Sharq, published outside of Syria, that the newly born son of President Bashar Al Assad and his British born wife Asmaa, had been suffering from a rare health problem and was flown to London for medical treatment. According to the report, the baby did not make it and, unfortunately, passed away.

Al-Bawaba’s sources, which prefer to remain anonymous, maintain that this information is totally unfounded and reflects “a vicious train of thought by hostile elements whose sole purpose is to mar the Syrian regime and cause damage to its President.”

These confidential sources claim that: “… anybody who wishes to create an unnecessary commotion around the Syrian Presidency, is a dangerous enemy to the entire Syrian nation.”

The wife of Syrian President gave birth to a baby boy in early December 2001. Assad married British-born Asma al-Akhras, a financial analyst and graduate of King's College in London, earlier that year. (Albawaba.com)
