Spain condemns latest coup attempt in Bolivia

GENEVA

Spain late Wednesday strongly condemned any illicit military movement in Bolivia amid reports of a military coup attempt in the South American nation.

"Spain strongly condemns the (illicit) military movements in Bolivia. We send our support and solidarity to the government of Bolivia and its people, and we call for respect for democracy and the rule of law," Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on X.

Sanchez's comments came shortly after Bolivian President Luis Arce denounced an "irregular mobilization" of some units of the armed forces amid reports of a coup attempt.
