Atento-Maroc, a branch of the Spanish telecom operator TELEFONICA, has set up in the Moroccan northern city of Tangier a call center, the company said in a press release published on its website.
The call center, which is currently employing some 300 operators, was officially dedicated by a delegation led by advisor to the King, Andre Azoulay, and secretary of state in charge of post, information technology and communication, Nasr Hajji.
The press release expected the number of operators to jump from 300 to 1000 by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Morocco's state-controlled Maroc Telecom will be soon finalizing the acquisition of 54 percent of Mauritania's telecoms operator Mauritel for $48 million, Morocco’s telecommunication ministry said.
The official MAP news agency, confirming the deal, said later that Maroc Telecom President Abdeslam Ahizoune met Mauritanian President Maaouya ould Sid'Ahmed Taya on Tuesday “after winning the Mauritel tender,” – Albawaba.com
