Thousands of Palestinians held marches across the West Bank on Sunday similar to those that have frequently turned into violent clashes with Israeli troops over the past month.

Minor clashes broke out in and around the West Bank town of Bethlehem but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

In Nablus, some 7,000 Palestinians took to the streets to mourn a Palestinian teenager who died Sunday after being declared brain dead the day before from injuries sustained in clashes on Friday.

Some of the demonstrators in Nablus stopped the ambulance carrying the body of Fadi Amin Dabaya, 22, to his hometown of Jenin nearby. The protesters paraded his body through the streets and prepared to head to an Israeli army checkpoint on the outskirts of the city, the site of frequent deadly fighting.

Thousands of protesters also marched in the northern West Bank cities of Jenin, Tulkarem and Qalqilya, witnesses said -- NABLUS, West Bank (AFP)
