Starbucks joined the celebrations of the Saudi people on the occasion of the Gulf nation's 80th National Day. Clad in green, Starbucks outlets across the Kingdom welcomed customers with complimentary coffee and chocolate, and invited them to write down commemorative phrases on the occasion. Starbucks customers stressed in their contributions national unity, praising the late King Abdul Aziz Al Saud, founder of modern Saudi Arabia, and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud for their national vision and development strategy.

On this occasion, Starbucks announced a short essay competition on Saudi Arabia history whereby a judging panel from Starbucks will choose the best contributions and award winners with valuable prizes.

"We are honored and proud to take part in Saudi Arabia's celebrations of the 80th National Day. We are pleased to join our customers on this special occasion" said Rana Shaheen, Regional Communications and CSR Manager, Starbucks Middle East.

"Our customers were absolutely delighted. People, old and young, were keen to contribute with loyal and affectionate phrases to their nation and leadership, written all over banners at Starbucks outlets. We look forward to a wider participation in the Kingdom's celebrations next year," she concluded.
