Starwood Hotels & Resorts: Set highest target to date for the 2010 Global Sales Race

 Over 60 associates will gather this week in Dubai to participate in Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ annual Global Sales Blitz. Setting their highest target to date, the sales teams aspire to achieve a target of meeting 550 companies and sales calls during the one week race. The teams will target earning new business as well as maintaining their existing relations with their current partners. The sales blitz will not only expand the business of the Dubai properties, but it also allows for the teams to promote Starwood properties globally- “This is a great opportunity to cross-sell all brands under the Starwood umbrella worldwide.” said Marwan Fadel, Starwood’s Area Director of Sales and Marketing.

During 2009, Starwood Hotels & Resorts launched its first Global Sales Blitz. Over 6,000 associates participated worldwide. Dubai’s traditional abra, camels, public buses, the Dubai Metro, and even a Harley Davidson motorbike transported the Blitzer’s to their partners to add on a fun twist to the yearly event.

This year, the one week event was kicked off yesterday from Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road’s 43rd floor rooftop. Sitting at over 150 meters above the ground, with the Burj Khalifa as its background, the teams headed out to capture Dubai’s business.

Throughout the week, the sales teams will be joined by key personnel from each participating property including General Managers, Revenue Managers, Chefs, and Outlet Managers.

 

 

 

Participating hotels include Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers, Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort & Towers, Sheraton Deira Hotel, Le Meridien Al Sondos Suites, and Four Points by Sheraton properties in Sheikh Zayed Road, Downtown, and Bur Dubai; each representing all the brands under Starwood which include St. Regis®, The Luxury Collection®, W®, Westin®, Le Méridien®, Sheraton®, Four Points® by Sheraton, and the recently launched AloftSM, and ElementSM.

The global sales blitz begins simultaneously in the EAME division from the 20th to the 25th of March 2010, and will be followed from the 22nd to the 26th of March 2010 in all other regions.
