Sudanese foreign minister, Mustafa Othman Ismail said that the recent meeting of the Sudanese National Tajamu (congregation), held in Cairo, restored hope once again to achieve national unity and peace.

Othman told Kuwait news agency (KUNA) that he received a report from his Egyptian counterpart, Amr Moussa regarding the discussions held, under the patronage of Egypt and Libya.

He said that what happened gives hope to hold a dialogue between the Sudanese political forces.

The minister asserted that the Sudanese government is committed to and supporting the joint initiative, hoping that all the sides would benefit from this, especially in light of the changes that occurred in the neighboring countries.

According to KUNA, Othman said his government agrees to merge and coordinate between the joint Egyptian Libyan initiative and the one presented by the Inter-Governmental Authority for Development (IGAD).

The minister asserted his government's keenness on giving the opportunity for all the political organizations to practice their political activities freely "to build the new Sudan" – Albawaba.com
