Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received Wednesday at his residence in Ankara Turkish Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul. According to SANA, the two sides reviewed the discussions held between the Syrian and the Turkish sides and "suitable mechanisms to activate joint coordination on the highest levels regarding issues of mutual concern, particularly regarding Iraq."
Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara and Syria’s Ambassador to Turkey Khalid Ra’ad attended the meeting.
Later, President al-Assad received Leader of Turkish Opposition Republican People’s Party Deniz Baykal.
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between Syria and Turkey and the need to develop them in various fields.
President al-Assad also received the Turkish Chief of Staff First Lt. Gen. Helmi Ozkok. Ozkok welcomed President Bashar al-Assad in Turkey and exchanged views with him on issues of mutual interest for both countries.
Also, President al-Assad received the Arab Ambassadors accredited to Turkey. (Albawaba.com)
