Tycoon Tamir Sapir has recently signed a guilty plea after his company Ruzial Ltd., was convicted in the Southern District of Florida for illegally importing protected wildlife items.
62 year old Sapir was born in Tbilisi for a Jewish family. At the age of 25 he immigrated to Israel where he was employed as a driver. After the 1973 war, he left Israel. In 1975, he arrived in the USA as a refugee and started to build his business empire, using his business links in the former USSR.
A few weeks ago, Sapir's son Alex announced his purchase of the controlling shares in Israel's Polar Investments Co.
Sapir is a well known philanthropist mainly to Jewish organizations.
