Team Ghantoot claimed H.H The President’s Polo Cup 2009, thereby defeating defending champion Team Al Ain Mineral Water by one goal on Friday, February 26. This prime event has been sponsored by Al Ain Mineral Water Company (PJSC), the fully owned entity of Abu Dhabi based AGTHIA Group (PJSC), and takes place under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club.
Team Ghantoot scored seven goals, while Team Al Ain Mineral Water scored six. Ignato de Lusarreta (Handicap=6) of Team Ghantoot scored a total number of four goals for his team, thereby leading them into winning the prestigious H.H The President’s Polo Cup 2009.
The cup was started in the year 2000 and due to its enormous success in the recent years, is classified as one of the most important championships of the year. This year, three teams competed for the prestigious cup; Ghantoot Polo Team, Al Ain Mineral Water Polo Team, and the Emirates Polo Team.
