Tech Mahindra’s Bahrain Based Office to Serve the Entire Gulf

US$ 1 billion tech firm to hire additional consultants to meet the demands of telecom companies in the region

Tech Mahindra Limited (TechM), one of the largest solution providers in the telecom space and India’s 6th largest software exporter, today announced its expansion plans of Bahrain Office. Tech Mahindra opened its regional office in the Kingdom in March 2008 and has now decided to place it at the centre of its GCC wide expansion plans. It will be hiring additional consultants to meet the IT services and solutions requirements of GCC based companies.

India based Tech Mahindra is a global systems integrator and business transformation consulting firm focused on the burgeoning telecommunications industry. With wholly owned subsidiaries in the US, Europe, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, the US$ 1 billion Tech Mahindra’s service offerings include business process outsourcing, infrastructure management services and value added services.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al-Khalifa, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), the public agency that oversees the economic development strategy of Bahrain and facilitates the establishment of such businesses, commented on the development: “Bahrain has played a pioneering role in the development of the information technology and telecommunications industry in the Gulf. It is a matter of pride that global IT firms like Tech Mahindra have chosen to place their trust and confidence in the Kingdom’s robust and business friendly environment.

“Furthermore, the country offers geographical and strategic advantages for any company that actively seeks to broaden its market reach to cover the GCC and the Middle East.

“Apart from being close to Saudi Arabia, the largest market in the region, Bahrain also offers a favourable investment climate and a cost-effective platform for conducting business.”

CP Gurnani, President – International Operations, Tech Mahindra, expressed confidence in Bahrain’s strength as a viable market for software development and solutions firms. He explained: “Bahrain provides one of the most energetic environments for software development firms like Tech Mahindra. Its talented local workforce and forward thinking policies enable companies to carve ambitious strategies for their business and broaden their regional presence.”

“We are encouraged by the sound operating environment that Bahrain provides for companies like Tech Mahindra, and we are positive that Bahrain will play a central role in our growth plans for the Middle East”, he added.

Tech Mahindra has grown rapidly to become the 6th largest software exporter in India and the second largest telecom software provider from India. Over 23,000 professionals serve the needs of clients from the firm’s global network of development centers and sales offices across Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.
Tech Mahindra's commitment to Bahrain underlines the country's position as a leading Information Technology (IT) hub in the region.
