Telemedicine, technology that allows access to remote medical expertise via communication elinks using satellites, may be the next step in Egypt’s health modernization plan. The country of over 70 million people is following a progressive revamp of its health sector to provide better coverage and facilities as part of a strategic move to improve healthcare provision.
Egypt’s sizeable and rapidly expanding market for foreign and medical equipment brings into focus the MEDITECH 2005 exhibition that will showcase latest innovations and competitive developments from leading international exhibitors, playing an important role in bringing in new products to satisfy market demand.
Tele-medicinal technology is among the many products that will be present at the 2005 edition of MENA MEDITECH. Ahmed Ghozzi, Chairman, ACG-ITF said, “MEDITECH is keen to bring new technology to the region. The trade show provides businesses a chance to boost business, and allows buyers to evaluate various offerings before purchasing. This year, we are expecting a substantial increase in both the number of exhibitors and the variety of offerings. Not only are old exhibitors keen on returning, but new participants also want to make inroads in the region’s lucrative health markets.”
MEDITECH 2005 Exhibition, to be held September 22-25 at the Cairo International Fairground is the premier medical trade show in the country and will bring a large confluence of medical technology and instrument manufacturers to the region to increase business and enhance awareness of their offerings.
“The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population have formulated modernization programmes that encourage innovation in the health sector. Technologies such as tele- medicinal infrastructure that vastly improve integration and service delivery may be the next step, and we shall see potential buyers examine these innovations closely,” added Ghozzi.
Michael Ya. Natenzon, Director General, VITANET, developers of tele-medical technologies and exhibitors in MEDITECH 2005 said, “Tele-medical systems, equipped with special diagnostic and communication equipment allow a variety of medical examinations, with the digitized results being sent to central clinical institutions for analysis and expert opinion. This hub-and-spoke method can provide premium medical services to remote, hard-to-reach areas without requiring extensive infrastructure.”
“MEDITECH 2005 is shaping up to be special due to the enormous support we have achieved from local and international players. Exhibitors realize the business value and bottom line impact of specialized trade shows. MEDITECH 2005 will be the premium event for medical equipment and related technology, with exhibition value boosted by the venue being in one of the fastest-growing health sectors in the Middle East,” Ghozzi concluded.
