Hungarian police have arrested three Arabs suspected of planning to assassinate Israel's President, Moshe Katsav, during his state visit to Budapest, Israeli media reported on Tuesday.

Katsav left for a three-day state visit to Hungary on Tuesday morning, where he is scheduled to open the new Holocaust museum on Thursday. According to a national police spokesman, police had detained the three and that they planned to blow up the museum.

Ynet reported that Katsav will continue his Hungarian visit as scheduled.

Katsav will meet with his Hungarian counterpart, Ferenc Madl, as well as the Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy and the foreign minister. A number of meetings with leading Hungarian businessmen are also scheduled.
