The Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Co. has secured the GMPCS-MoU mark approval from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for its handheld terminals, according to a report published by Emirates official news agency (WAM).
Thuraya, which has signed up 68 telecom operators representing 51 countries, has signed a service provider agreement with the Central African Republic, raising the list of countries to 34, said the agency.
Quoting an official spokesman as saying that Thuraya obtained the GMPCS-MoU mark approval from the ITU, signifying that Thuraya can now affix the GMPCS-MoU mark to its handheld terminals -- Albawaba.com
