ALBAWABA - Former U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and urged him to show leniency towards Ukrainian forces trapped in Kursk, a region in southwestern Russia.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trump stated:
"I had a conversation with Putin on Thursday, and there is a significant chance to resolve the situation in Ukraine."

Trump described the discussion as positive and constructive, emphasizing that he had asked Putin to exercise restraint regarding the Ukrainian military units completely surrounded in Kursk.

He further warned that the fate of these encircled Ukrainian troops could turn into a major humanitarian disaster, stating:
"What could happen to them might be one of the worst massacres since World War II."
