Turkey to boycott Syria talks if Kurdish PYD included

Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Tuesday that Turkey would boycott the upcoming Syrian peace talks if the Kurdish opposition group Democratic Union Party (PYD) participates in the negotiations, Reuters reported.

The PYD, which is fighting Daesh and has received military support from the United States, was described as a "terror" organization by Cavusoglu, saying they have no place at the negotiating table.

After much debate about which opposition groups would be invited, UN Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura said that invitations have been sent, although it has not yet been revealed which opposition groups have been invited to the talks.
