Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will make his first-ever visit to Jerusalem on Sunday, in what is being seen by Israel as a return to "business as usual" between the two countries. Major arms deals between the two allies are among the issues on the agenda.
Erdogan is visiting Israel at the head of a large delegation which includes his wife, four ministers, around 10 parliament members and some 100 business people. The Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, and his new deputy in charge of purchasing, will stay in Israel for two more days as guests of the Defense Ministry to discuss major arms deals.
According to HaAretz, on the agenda is the signing of a new deal to upgrade about 30 F-4 Phantoms belonging to the Turkish air force, at a cost of $400-500 million.
