ALBAWABA - More than 60 people were killed in a collision between two buses on a major motorway in Uganda early on Wednesday.
The Ugandan police confirmed the death of 63 people and mentioned that several others were hospitalized in the crash that happened right past midnight on the Kampala-Gulu highway, police announced in a statement posted on X.
One of the bus drivers tried to avoid an accident and took a turn, but instead he caused "a chain reaction" which led to at least four other vehicles "losing control and overturning several times," the police statement read.
"As a result, 63 people lost their lives, all occupants from involved vehicles and several others sustained injuries," police added.
Injured people were taken to Kiryandongo Hospital and other nearby medical facilities.
