Two Israeli companies Listed on Fortune's Fastest 100 List

On Fortune's list of the top 100 fastest growing companies Wednesday were two Israeli companies: Mercury Interactive and Comverse Technology, reported The Jerusalem Post Thursday.  

Mercury, a Web-site testing and monitoring company ranked 13th by Fortune, saw its earnings per share (EPS) grow 79 percent in the past three years, its revenue increase by 55%, and a total stock market return of 196%, said the Israeli daily..  

Based in Sunnyvale, California with a R & D branch in Or Yehuda, Mercury registered a net income of $43.7 million in the past four quarters, and revenue of $237.6m, according to the paper.  

Amnon Landan, chairman, CEO, and president of Mercury, was quoted as saying he was delighted to have received the Fortune recognition.  

Comverse, which came in 51st on the Fortune list, saw both its EPS and revenue grow at 49%, and showed a total stock market return of 75% since 1997, according to the report.  

One of the largest sellers of telephone-messaging systems, Comverse, headquartered in Woodbury, NY with a R&D facility in Tel Aviv, made $191m. in net income in the last four quarters, and $933m. in revenue.  

Fortune's Fastest-100 list is compiled from companies that have been in operation for three years with revenues and a minimum market capitalization of $50m.  

The list filters out all companies except those with a 30% annual growth rate for three years in both revenue and EPS, as well as positive earnings in the last quarter. Finally, the companies are scored in three categories: growth in revenue, EPS, and total stock-market return over three years.  

The NY-based 4Kids Entertain-ment, which produces Pokemon films and holds the licensing rights to put the creatures on T-shirts, backpacks, and school supplies, is ranked No. 1 on the Fortune list.
