The three young UAE drivers from the H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Racing Drivers Academy continued to impress in the Formula Renault Campus Championship after the 3rd leg in Dijon, France. Two of the racers, Mohammed Al Kamda and Faisal Al Redha finished in the top ten once again.

Mohammed Al Kamda was able to steal the spotlight from Faisal Al Redha this time around during both races as he started in the eighth position and fought his way through the field to finish both races in fifth position adding 18 points to his grand total which now leaves him with 23 points. “This track is the hardest one till now. It was very challenging with its technical corners. I am very happy to get into the 5th position twice during the two races as it is my best result so far. I had a tough battle with a number of competitors trying to overtake them and later on to maintain my position and I succeeded. I am looking forward to doing even better in the upcoming race,” Said Mohammed.

Faisal, on the other hand, had to retire from the first race due to a mechanical problem. But he came back well in the 2nd race and finished a strong 7th. “When I came to Dijon, I had only one thing in mind and that was victory. But as you’ve seen I had a mechanical problem with my car when I was fighting for the fourth position, and in motor racing, everything is expected. Yet still am glad I could re-enter the second race to add some points to my total and not lose it all.” said a disappointed Faisal.

As for Hasher Al Maktoum, he in turn faced a problem with his car, and despite everything, pushed himself hard to finish both races. “Luck played its cards against me during this race. I felt something was wrong with the car during the qualifications. But I insisted on finishing both races. I just can’t wait for the next race to make up for this one.” said Hasher.

The fourth weekend of the French Formula Campus Renault Elf championship is scheduled to take place at the Pau circuit on June 3 - 4.

The Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Racing Drivers Academy is the first of its kind in the UAE aims to select and train young UAE drivers and give them the ability to race and compete at the highest international level. It will deliver a comprehensive approach to educating and training UAE nationals and provide them with all the training and support to enhance their racing skills.
