UAE's foreign minister Rashid Abdullah al-Noaimi urged Iran on Friday to begin bilateral talks to end the dispute over the three occupied islands, reported Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Noting the successful conclusion of border by Saudi Arabia with Kuwait and

Yemen, the minister called upon Iran to follow their example, said the agency.

He called the treaties an "important political and historic event that would promote confidence-building measures and good neighborly relations."

Al-Noaimi urged Iran "to follow the example of those fraternal states and to respond to our peaceful initiatives that call for either entering into direct and serious bilateral negotiations aimed at finding a peaceful solution for ending Iran's occupation of greater Tunb, lesser Tunb and Abu Moussa, or accepting to submit the dispute to the International Court of Justice." - Albawaba.com
