Dulsco, organisers of Dulsco Classic, the popular annual corporate golf tournament, have announced that more than 90 amateur golfers comprising CEOs and decision makers from across the UAE will line up for the 2009 edition of the tournament, which will be held at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club on February 5.

Dulsco has introduced an interesting format for the tournament this year, making it both an individual and a team event. While each player will compete for individual honors – to be played as individual stableford with a three-fourth handicap (under Division A & B) – they will also be part of a team-of-four alliance, with the two best scores on each hole counting towards the team total.

The 2009 edition of the tournament will also see more prizes being given away; in addition to the prizes for the top three players in individual events and for the top three teams in the team event, Dulsco plans to add to the excitement by offering prizes for being the ‘nearest to the pin’ and achieving the ‘longest drive’.

Balakumar, Director, Dulsco HR Solutions, said: “This is our sixth year of hosting the Dulsco Classic and the response to the event has been growing every year. The Dulsco Classic is more than just a sports tournament; it is proving to be an ideal stage for corporate executives from across the UAE to network in a setting far different from their boardrooms. Moreover, the fact that a growing number of companies in the UAE are seeking such opportunities to enable their staff to exhibit their golfing talent while interacting with peers, has contributed to the event’s continued appeal and success.”

“We have always viewed the Dulsco Classic as an excellent way of getting closer to our key clients and invited guests. While the idea is simply to have some fun on the golf course, it is equally interesting to see how intense the competition gets,” added Balakumar, “At Dulsco, we have always promoted sports. It is one of our responsibilities as a leading company in the UAE to promote a healthier lifestyle, and all our endeavors in cricket, football and golf have this aim in mind.”
