UAE: Fire erupts near Barakah Nuclear Power Plant after drone strike

ALBAWABA - Abu Dhabi authorities announced on Sunday that a drone attack caused a fire in an external electrical generator near Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region.

According to the local media, no injuries were reported in the fire as first responders were dispatched to the location of the blaze.

Gulf Times reported, citing the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), that there was no impact on radiological safety levels in the power plant.

Abu Dhabi Media Office posted a statement regarding the fire, "Authorities in Abu Dhabi responded to a fire incident that broke out in an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region, caused by a drone strike. No injuries were reported, and there was no impact on radiological safety levels."

It continued, "All precautionary measures have been taken, and further updates will be provided as they become available. The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) confirmed that the fire did not affect the safety of the power plant or the readiness of its essential systems, and that all units are operating as normal."

The office also urged people to only rely on verified news information and abandon social media speculations and false rumors.
