The decorative interior emulsion paints sector has been growing at 15 per cent annually and is currently estimated to be worth more than AED120 million, according to Ashish Chaturvedy, Marketing and Business Development Manager, Al Gurg Leigh’s Paints, manufacturers of Dulux Paints in the UAE.

“With more premium projects coming on board and discerning clients demanding higher quality standards, we estimate further growth of 20 per cent in the interior emulsion sector over the next five years,” added Chaturvedy.

“Needless to mention, freehold ownership is also encouraging homeowners to start investing in their homes.”

More than 30 per cent of the total paint consumed in the UAE is from the interior coatings industry, added Chaturvedy at an ICI Dulux seminar held in Dubai recently. The seminar also marked the launch of a new range of luxury paints called Dulux Royal Touch.

In addition to its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, its unique formulation allows easy flowing and leveling and hides minor flaws such as hairline cracks and bumps. Royal Touch can be used on suitably prepared masonry plaster, concrete, rendered block works, gypsum board, wood etc.

“The luxurious and smooth finish can uplift the interiors of any home. Its fire-resistant properties and easily washable surfaces make it ideal for opulent hotels and restaurants, luxury villas and apartments yearning a make-over,” said Philip Mathew, General Manager, Al Gurg Leigh Paints (AGLP) - manufacturers and distributors of ICI Dulux Paints in the UAE.

Decorative products like Dulux Royal Touch are already proving to be a popular choice among an increasing number of homeowners globally and Mathew is confident that the range will emulate its international success in the UAE.

“Royal Touch has set a benchmark for safe and hygienic emulsion paints. Not only do they protect health but they also avoid unnecessary toxic emissions into the environment. We make a conscious effort to produce paints that are globally safe in line with the ICI Dulux Safety, Health and Environment standards,” he added.

The ‘ICI Dulux Colour and Coatings seminar’ held at Al Murooj Rotana Hotel in Dubai gathered 200 UAE-based consultants, project managers, engineers and designers. The seminar was followed by an entertaining colour-themed fashion show presented by United Colors of Benetton.

Globally, ICI Paints is the largest manufacturer of paints and coatings and the Dulux brand is the undisputed decorative paints leader in the world. Dulux is renowned for its innovative and premium interior decorative paints and long lasting finishes which add a touch of luxury to any home.
