UAE president appoints new deputy supreme commander of armed forces

UAE president, Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, issued Saturday a decree, appointing General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.


As per the decree, the Deputy Supreme Commander shall be, by virtue of his post, a member of the Supreme National Defence Council and shall oversee the implementation of its decisions with respect to organisation, armament and preparation of the armed forces. He shall also exercise leadership responsibilities as provided for in the Supreme National Defence Council Decree No. 1 of 1976.

 

Shaikh Khalifa also issued another decree, promoting Major-General Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chief of the state security organ to the rank of Lieutenant-General.

 

President Khalifa issued another decree, promoting Major-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the rank of Lieutenant-General.
