The UAE is in the process of setting up its own independent standards and specifications authority, according to a senior government official, quoted by Gulf News.
The authority will have its own budget and administration under the UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, according to the ministry's undersecretary for industrial affairs.
A standards and specifications draft law was outlined and approved by the legislative committee at the Ministry of Justice, the official told the daily, adding that the bill will be forwarded to the Cabinet's ministerial legislative committee, the Federal National Council and all proper channels for the issue of the decree – Albawaba.com
