Umniah, the latest mobile operator to launch in Jordan announced December 26, 2006 the launch of its media campaign, which aims at promoting Petra as one of the “New 7 Wonders of the World” to urge Umniah's subscribers to vote for one of Jordan’s treasures. This comes as part of Umniah’s commitment to the national initiatives launched by Jordan Tourism Board in November 2006.
Umniah’s “Vote for Petra” media campaign starts on December 2006 to allow subscribers to vote for Petra as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World for the beauty, magic and mystery it holds within its rose-red city cut in rocks. Likewise, Umniah has been following up on this subject with Jordan Tourism Board to contribute to the success of this campaign and to promote this national treasure.

Voting for Petra is available to all Umniah subscribers, where they can simply send a short text message with the word “Petra” to Umniah’s short number 92381. In this regard Mrs. Salfiti called on Umniah’s subscribers to participate in promoting Petra as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World to contribute to the success of Petra and to raise the global awareness towards our national treasures.
