United Development Company (UDC), master-developer of The Pearl-Qatar, is organizing a “fire-fighting, rescue and evacuation” training course in collaboration with the General Directorate of Civil Defense (GDCD).
The training course presently underway with 75 staff of The Pearl-Qatar’s Health, Security and Environment (HSE) team at the headquarters of the GDCD, is taking place for four weeks.
These courses, which aim at upgrading HSE’s staff capabilities in fire fighting, rescue operations and evacuation, are part of the company’s overall plans and belong to the most important safety measures to minimize risk and to prevent damage. They reflect the awareness that a mega-project like The Pearl-Qatar requires perpetual effort and readiness.
The training course will further enhance the capabilities and performance of The Pearl-Qatar employees. In the event of an emergency, they are required to organize and carry out fire fighting, rescue and evacuation operations using the state of- the-art equipment available in all The Pearl-Qatar precincts
Saeed Al Sulaiti, Head of Administration at The Pearl–Qatar said: "This training course is within the cooperation and coordination framework between UDC and the GDCD. The program includes practical training as well as theoretical knowledge to ensure compliance with modern requirements of prevention and public safety. The participants will learn how to use various types of equipment”.
“We will have a graduation ceremony at The Pearl-Qatar, where the participants will receive their training course completion certificates. Furthermore, UDC has prepared a couple of nice surprises for the participants". Al Sulaiti said.
“UDC is fully committed to extend its utmost efforts to carry out fire, rescue and evacuation mock drills in coordination with the GDCD to ensure the best performance on all levels is achieved. UDC’s appreciation is extended to the GDCD for its continuous support and to all participants in this training course. It will be followed by other courses to upgrade TPQ staff capabilities and efficiency". Al-Sulaiti added.
