The University of Dubai, a prestigious academic institution established by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the University of Dubai Alumni Association (UDAA), recently held a special Dean’s Alumni Networking reception for its College of Business Administration (CBA) alumni.

Over 100 guests attended the reception which featured presentations by Majid Al Marri, UDAA Vice President and Dr Ananth Rao, Dean of the College of Business Administration. The occasion provided an invaluable opportunity y to meet and reconnect with classmates, faculty and staff. Guests were invited to actively participate in several initiatives being launched by the Alumni Association in collaboration with the Internship and Career Development Center including the UDAA and Friends Scholarship Fund program which will benefit needy students.

Talking about the event, Sheikh Mohammed bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of the UDAA, said: “The alumni association is thrilled to provide this fabulous opportunity to UD graduates to re-connect and establish contact with one another. We are also pleased to play a role in encouraging alumni to support the university and its students through the newly launched scholarship initiative.”

The alumni’s response to the scholarship initiative was overwhelming and donations are expected throughout the academic year. The university took the opportunity to share with the alumni exciting news about the launch of its new BBA program offerings and updated it about the several new professional development courses being offered by its Center for Management and Professional Development.

Meanwhile, the newly introduced Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) society of the university also recently hosted a special introductory session. The university is only one of the two institutions in the UAE supporting a Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) University chapter. The society’s mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the society, and to serve its lifelong members. In October this year, University of Dubai inducted over 50 high achieving third and fourth year students into BGS, which it hopes to continue annually from now on.

Dr Omar Hefni, President of University of Dubai, said: “We are extremely pleased and honored to have a BGS society at the university. It is a reflection of our continued contribution to the fields of business research while maintaining its professional codes and standards. The event targeted business students from all class years, and sought to not only introduce the honor society to them, but emphasized the importance of academic achievement in one’s career. Introduction of such events at the university, are an integral part of our long standing commitment to produce highly qualified individuals who can display their skills in their respective fields.”
The university is the only one among universities accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to earn the AACSB (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation for its business programs. As the honor society for AACSB International accredited business programs, BGS provides UD with an extraordinary option to recognize its best business students.
