The U.S. military carried out an airstrike last week against the al-Shabaab terrorist group in Somalia, killing at least 60 militants, the U.S. Africa Command announced Tuesday.

The airstrike was launched in coordination with the Somalian government Friday near the Harardere community in Mudug province in central Somalia.

"We also currently assess this airstrike did not injure or kill any civilians," said the command in a statement.

It was the largest airstrike since a November 2017 attack that killed about 100 al-Shabaab militants.
