ALBAWABA  - The U.S. Department of State announced in a statement that it was acknowledged Hamas is planning to launch an attack against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The statement read, "The United States has informed the guarantor nations of the Gaza peace agreement of credible reports indicating an imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza."

According to the department, the planned attack by the Palestinian group would "constitute a direct and grave violation of the ceasefire agreement," warning that the U.S. would take the necessary measures to protect the people in Gaza.

"Should Hamas proceed with this attack, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and preserve the integrity of the ceasefire," the U.S. Department of State further mentioned.

It is worth noting that Hamas executed freed prisoner Hisham al-Saftawi after storming his home in Nuseirat, central Gaza. On Saturday, the Fatah movement condemned what it described as a "heinous crime" against the newly freed prisoner.
