The internationally renowned engineering and construction firm, The Stellar Group, which set up the largest turbine inlet air chilling project in Saudi Arabia, is participating in Power-Gen Middle East 2006 that is now on at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre.

Key executives from The Stellar Group have arrived in the UAE to support the company's participation at the Power-Gen event including Mike Solms, Vice President of The Stellar Group and Trevor Richter, Director of Business Development.

The Stellar booth is providing visitors information on a range of world-class services and solutions offered by the US company, particularly its unique Turbine Inlet Air Chilling solutions, and will serve as a meeting point for potential customers and partners. The Stellar Group installed the largest single state-of-the-art Turbine Inlet Air Cooling system in the Middle East when they constructed the world's largest man-made thermal energy storage tank in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia last year. The tank holds more than 190,000 Tons - Hours of cooling capacity.

Mohammad Abusaa, Regional Manager of Business Development of The Stellar Group, said: "We have been participating in most Power-Gen events internationally and in the Middle East, especially those that are held in the US. The rapid growth in the power and construction sectors in the Middle East has encouraged The Stellar Group to look at the vast potential that exists in this region, which resulted in the opening of our regional headquarters in Dubai last year. We are committed to exploring numerous opportunities and initiatives across the Middle East that would tremendously benefit The Stellar Group and the region. We are therefore, happy to be participating in Power-Gen to further enhance our image, and offer our range of solutions to the important Middle East market. We are confident that our participation in this Power-Gen will help generate significant business leads".

Turbine Inlet Air Chilling is a solution that is based on cooling the inlet air of gas turbines. By cooling the air, power production increases and reaches "winter production levels" which is usually an increase of 20-30% of the turbines' summer capacity depending on ambient conditions. The main clients for this solution are power companies and owners of power plants who are interested in maximizing the utilization of their gas turbines.

Stellar Group LLC recently received the first shipment of the world's largest chiller modules that were shipped from its headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida in the US to Dubai. The modules will be part of the largest district cooling system, the first phase of which is worth over AED 340 million that is being set up by Palm District Cooling at the Jumeirah Lake Towers project of leading UAE property developer, Nakheel. The Dubai-based Palm District Cooling awarded Stellar Group LLC the contract to build three district cooling plants at the Jumeirah Lake Towers, and also design and build a number of district cooling systems for the Palm Jumeirah island, another Nakheel project. Stellar will be building the cooling plants on the Trunk of the Palm Jumeirah.
