The health of Pope John Paul II's is improving a week after undergoing a tracheotomy to treat breathing problems, the Vatican said.
The pontiff, who will be 85 years-old in May, is continuing his rehabilitation after last week's surgery at Rome's Gemelli hospital to insert a breathing tube in his throat, Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls said during a news
conference at the Vatican Thursday.
