Villeroy & Boch’s Product of the Month: “Benedikt & Friends in Africa

Published October 19th, 2009 - 03:12 GMT
The 2009 umbrella theme of the “Benedikt & Friends” collection, the unmistakably styled collection of figures by Viennese artist Rosemarie Benedikt, is "Africa", which focuses on Elephant Tom and his family. The highly expressive individual figures have been designed with their own personal note and a wealth of strange details. "Elephant Tom", an elliptical, unhurried, easy-going chap, represents a close friend of Tom Cat Benedikt. Elephant Tom's wife, "Elli" is shown as a generously warm and charming creature, while daughter "Siri" is designed as a dreamy elephant girl, and son "Timo", as a rather clumsy little rowdy. Especially for lovers of generously sized figures, "Tom" and "Elli" have each been designed in an additional 40-cm size. This, however, is a limited edition of 1,000 figures per character.
Those who want can also enjoy their tea or coffee with “Benedikt & Friends”. Rosemarie Benedikt has developed a luxurious tea/coffee set decorated with graphic motifs from the world of “Benedikt Africa” and broad platinum bands.
