Get ready to be immersed in the mystical world of classical music and beautiful people this season, as Vindemia art, antiques and collectibles gallery will showcase the strikingly different paintings of the popular Lebanese artist, Georges Bassil at Aspen in Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates. The exhibition titled, 'Mezzo' will run from

6 October- 21 November, 2010 from 11.00 am- 9.00 pm

Bassil's latest exhibition in Dubai is a product of his love for classical music and people from where he draws inspiration, as they come together to give soul to his ballerinas. He translates with striking sensitivity and talent the essence of elegance that emanates from the movements of one of the most refined forms of dance. Bassil is infact, both the creator of the utterly feminine and the choreographer of its dreamy motion.

Commenting about his series of paintings, "My paintings stand naked and lonely – not always alone for all to see, judge and value for what they are with no explanation required. They sometimes stare with big round dark eyes, ones that seem to know something you don't and are not. Other times, they just stand there, seemingly indifferent to anyone and everything that passes them by, while in fact providing a constant reminder that art doesn't always have to shout out controversy or a definite state of being, it can simply whisper it while you attempt to formulate words to describe just exactly what it is you are feeling in its presence," said Georges Bassil.

Born in Beirut 1965, a self-educated painter, inspired by the voices of Billie Holiday, Maria Callas and Um Kulthum, Georges has exhibitd his works across the world including Montreal, London, Nice, Amman, Beirut and Dubai.

"Bassil's lyrical paintings are all intimate encounters of the artist that captivates viewers of any age and taste. His work is noted for powerful presence of his timid subjects and daring, often controversial, depiction of individuals exposed nakedly and indifferent to the viewer's curiosity," says Ghada Kunash, Art collector and Managing Director of Vindemia

Commenting on the hosting of the 'Mezzo' exhibition at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, Wissam Suleiman Kempinski Executive Assistant Manager said, "We are once again very excited to showcase yet another remarkable artist here at Aspen. Inspired by classical music and people, Georges Bassil's extraordinary paintings are much appreciated by our diversified clientele and will surely add to the overall exceptional atmosphere of Aspen.
