Algerian director Nadhir Moukhnache's "Viva Algeria" won two prizes at the 21st Alexandria International Film Festival, which took place from 7 to 13 September in Egypt. "Viva Algeria" won the best film award while Nadia Kaci, the heroine of the film won the best actress award. El Moudjahid reports that in "Viva Algeria", Moukhnache, who is known as the "Algerian Almodavar" presents the drama of three women. 27-year old Goucem works as a photographer spending weekend evenings in the night clubs. Her mother is a widow and ex-cabaret dancer that spends all her time by eating pizza in front of the TV, and Goucem's friend and neighbor works as a prostitute. In this 113-minute movie, Moukhnache vividly portraits the lives of these three women, who are exiled in their own country.
