The region’s premier energy title, Future Fuels Middle East, has opened online voting for the world’s first Alternative Energy Awards, which will be presented in Qatar at the inaugural Energy Masked Ball next month.
The 2007 Alternative Energy Awards’ presentation ceremony will be part of the Energy Masked Ball, which will be brought to Qatar by The Pearl Qatar and held on the Pearl Island on March 22nd, 2007.
“Qatar is the natural home for Reflex Publishing’s Future Fuels Middle East magazine as this country is fast becoming a global hub for the alternative energy industry. To recognise the leaders and innovators in this increasingly important sector we have teamed up with The Pearl Qatar and an impressive list of sponsors and supporters to bring to Qatar the first Alternative Energy Awards, which will be followed by Qatar’s first Energy Masked Ball,” said Eileen Michael, Group Publishing Director, Reflex Publishing.
Designed to recognise companies and individuals who have made a significant difference in their field of expertise in alternative energy, the 2007 Alternative Energy Awards are welcoming votes for various categories including the Project and Company Awards, as well as an Environment Award which will go to an individual, a company or an organisation for their contribution to achieving wider environmental awareness.
With entertainment and venue details set to be announced over the next month, organisers are expecting that the 2007 Energy Masked Ball will be the social event of the year for Qatar’s energy decision makers and the wider regional business community.
Michael explained: “The 2007 Energy Masked Ball is not only the first time a masked ball will be held in Qatar, but the first time The Pearl Qatar will host a gala event outdoors on The Pearl Island.
“To make it a night to truly remember we will be lighting up the skies with a fireworks display and bringing in international entertainment,” she said.
Reflex Publishing expects the Qatar alternative energy events to share the spirit and excitement of their Pipeline Magazine’s Excellence in Energy Awards and Oil Barons’ Ball, which is held in Dubai annually.
“Since its inception six years ago, the Excellence in Energy Awards have grown in stature and is now regionally recognised as the energy sector’s most prestigious ceremony. The Oil Barons’ Ball brings together the industry in the form of an impressive gala dinner and a networking event second to none and the event is now the largest ball held in the Middle East,” Michael said.
With the RasGas LNG train 5 expected to launch at the end of March, Michael added that she hoped the combination of these two milestones for Qatar will raise further regional and global awareness about the positive impact these new fuels will have on the environment.
