Western Region Development Council signs an MOU with the Western Region Municipality

The Western Region Development Council (WRDC) – the central coordinating body leading development and promoting opportunity in Al Gharbia, the Western Region of Abu Dhabi–signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Western Region Municipality (WRM) at its headquarters in Al Gharbia, to promote the level of cooperation between the two bodies and add more value to Al Gharbia community and residents.

The agreement was signed on behalf of WRDC by H.E. Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Director General of WRDC and by H.E. Hamood Humaid Al-Mansoori Director General of WRM on behalf of the Municipality, in the presence of a number of officials from both parties. The MOU will lead to closer cooperation and strengthen the relationship between both entities, and will aid the implementation of the strategic plan for the development of Al Gharbia through providing increased investment support and creating a better economic and social environment that will benefit region and its residents.

In a statement following the signing of the memorandum H.E. Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Director General of WRDC said: "The signing of this memorandum signals the deepening partnership between the Western Region Development Council and Western Region Municipality. It also emphasizes our commitment to forming close relationships with our strategic partners, to consolidate our efforts to enhance the sustainable development and advancement in the standard of living for the residents, while boosting the business environment in Al Gharbia. This partnership will lead to increased capacity building, and will stimulate the economic and investment capabilities of Al Gharbia to ensure all needs and requirements of society are met."

H.E. Hamoud Humaid Al Mansouri, General Manager, Western Region Municipality said: "The signing of this agreement is in line with our Government's continuous guidance to enhance the lifestyle of our citizens, reduce expenditures and the impact of the financial burdens they are facing. The signing also marks our commitment to providing a higher standard of living for the region's population. It also contributes towards our mission to support the development and sustainability of the Western Region."

Al Mansouri continued:"The agreement aims to strengthen the relationship between the Municipality and the Council in order to pull all the strategic plans for the development of the Western Region together. It also supports investment opportunities by creating the ideal economic and social environment for the Western Region and its people. Moreover, the agreement encourages the broad exchange of information and experiences. This helps to develop research projects and the establishment of joint ventures between the parties. As part of this we will be organizing a wide range of practical workshops, training courses and seminars.

According to the terms of the MOU, the agreement will promote and strengthen the process of information exchange between WRDC and WRM, and allow increased coordination on research data and strategies, policies, legislation and regulations developed by both..

The agreement between WRDC and WRM also discusses conducting conferences, workshops, specialized seminars, and training programs to highlight the latest developments in best working practices in areas of common interest. The signing of this memorandum falls within the general strategy adopted by WRDC, which stresses on the importance of promoting cooperation with strategic partners as to support both the short- and long-term strategic initiatives of the Council.
