ALBAWABA - Washington will soon release the names of people who are expected to lead the Palestinian Committee in Gaza, as part of the second phase of the peace agreement between Hamas and Israel.
The New York Times revealed that the U.S. will be naming a panel of Palestinian technocrats to oversee the strip, which was devastated by a two-year war with Israel.
The American newspaper was informed by four officials and six others that Ali Saath was selected to lead the panel in Gaza as part of the U.S.' ongoing efforts to maintain the peace deal agreed upon last October.
The sources who spoke with the New York Times did not reveal further details regarding the identity of the other members of the committee, how it will manage the Gaza Strip, or which parties will fund its operations. But, they said the announcement could be made on Wednesday.
Who is Ali Saath, the expected leader of the Palestinian Committee?
According to The New York Times, Ali Saath is a prominent Palestinian figure who earlier served as Palestinian deputy minister for planning, Sky News Arabic reported. Ali Saath also holds a PhD in engineering.
Shaath is known for his work in the fields of development planning, civil engineering, and institutional development within the Palestinian Authority. He was born in Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip and later moved to Cairo as a student, where he studied engineering at Ain Shams University.

Sky News Arabic mentioned that Ali Saath held several positions within the Palestinian Authority, including:
1. He served as Director General of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
2. He was Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation in the Palestinian Authority.
3. He was Executive Director of the General Authority for Industrial Estates and Free Zones.
