ALBAWABA - A source in the United States Embassy in Beirut reported that the U.S. is not planning to send financial aid to the Lebanese Army and the Internal Security Forces, Naharnet reported Saturday.

According to the local media outlet, the U.S. embassy source said that America won't be renewing its monthly financial aid to Lebanon when its six-month period expires in November.

The source was quoted: "The plan will not be renewed due to the failure to approve reforms and elect a president."

French special envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian said Wednesday that France and its allies are angered as Lebanon is failing to pick a new president confirming that they are now reviewing their financial aid.

Lebanon is facing almost a year of deadlock as the country failed multiple times to elect a new president following the end of the presidency of ex-president Michel Aoun.

Michel Aoun was the president of Lebanon from Oct. 31, 2016, until Oct. 30, 2022, since then the Lebanese government failed to replace him.
