Worldmax further extends WiMAX network performance;
launch aerea 8.0 raises indoor and outdoor
download speeds to 8 Mbps

Worldmax, provider of wireless broadband Internet based on the WiMAX 802.16e standard, today announced that it has upgraded the capabilities of its commercial indoor and outdoor service to 8 Mbps downlink data rates.

With the launch of aerea 8.0, Worldmax also introduces the MAX-216M1 WiMAX indoor modem, which lets your computer or phone connect wirelessly to the Internet at broadband speeds.

In addition, Intel Capital, Intel Corporation’s global investment organization, made a follow on investment in Worldmax.

“Intel has a continued commitment to the deployment of low-cost, high-bandwidth wireless broadband Internet access to consumers around the world,” said Gordon Graylish, vice president, Sales and Marketing Group, EMEA. “WiMAX is already an option on some Intel® Centrino® processor technology-based notebook PCs. As both the availability of WiMAX-enabled devices and network availability increases, our cooperation with Worldmax is of crucial importance to support this evolution.”

 “Worldmax will keep investing in its WiMAX network in order to offer customers all the benefits from these innovations. With the introduction of aerea 8.0 and the WiMAX indoor modem, Worldmax meets the demand of wireless broadband connectivity at home, in the office or on-the-go,” said Worldmax CEO Jeanine van der Vlist. “Worldmax is ready to introduce 32 Mbps on its WiMAX network this year. With Intel’s effort to bring integrated WiMAX in Intel Centrino Mobile Technology-based notebooks and Intel Capital’s support, we will be able to accelerate our sales and business development activities in our region.”
