Yemeni forces announced Wednesday that they have reclaimed control of their army headquarters in the south, according to AFP sources. Al-Qaeda militants earlier this week seized the headquarters and have been keeping military personnel in the building hostage. Yemeni forced killed all al-Qaeda fighters Wednesday, according to  SABA news agency.

The south of Yemen has been a haven for al-Qaeda activity, with fighters most recently killing at least 56 soldiers during the September 20th attacks in Shawba. The United States, in their efforts to combat terrorism, has launched renewed and intensified drone strikes against the al-Qaeda groups in the south of Yemen in recent weeks.
