Yemeni troops surrounded a mosque controlled by former president Ali Abdullah Saleh in Sanaa on Sunday because of suspicions that he is plotting a coup, AFP reports.

According to AFP, presidential guard troops surrounded and blocked access to the al-Saleh mosque.

Current President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi suspected a coup after large amounts of weapons were found inside the mosque.

Saleh ruled Yemen for 33 years before he was forced to step down and let Hadi take control.
