Algerian police arrest gang luring victims using 'Dubai chocolate'

ALBAWABA - Algerian authorities announced arresting a member of a criminal gang specializing in theft and assault of citizens. The gang lured its victims through social media under the pretext of selling "Dubai chocolate" at cheap prices.

According to the local newspaper "An-Nahar," the gang employs a fraudulent tactic that lures victims to the Baraki district of the capital after dark, under the pretext of selling "Dubai chocolate" at attractive, low prices, using the high demand for the delicious chocolate in the country.

Once the victims arrive, the masked gang members, armed with swords and knives, attack them and steal their money under threat of assault.

In detail, the Harrach Misdemeanor Court said the defendant appeared to be a member of an armed gang that carried out a series of attacks and robberies targeting victims, most of whom were merchants from the state of Setif.
